Nestled a few hundred miles South of Acapulco is a Sport
Fishing enthusiast’s utopia… Bahias de Huatulco.
(Also affectionately referred to as ¨The 7 Bays of
Huatulco¨) Mostly still undiscovered by most of North
America and Europe, this sleepy elegant beach resort region
boasts some of the best salt water fishing environments
available to the devotee.
For
the most part, and relatively speaking, this spot is not
heavily commercially fished and sea-life is abundant.
Tuna, Marlin, Snapper, Dorado and other attractive fishing
is so abundant here that fishing these waters is mostly
an effortless and relaxing endeavor.
The
area is also unique in that it is surrounded by some of
the best and most unspoiled and natural outdoor activity
features anywhere. One should not pass up any opportunity
to vacation here. So after you real-em-in you can easily
find plenty to do in Huatulco.
Other
Attractions: The area also possesses some of the best
and most impacting, yet still undiscovered, natural tourist
attractions existing anywhere in North America.
White
Water Rafting. Not found in many places in Mexico. Huatulco
can rightfully claim that it is one of the only resort
destinations in Mexico which can offer White Water Rafting,
Slow Current Rafting, Virgin Beaches, Jungles, Pine Forests,
Exploring, Nature Hikes, Extreme Hiking, Off shore fishing,
Fly Fishing (fresh water river), Day Yachting, Snorkeling,
Scuba Diving, Nature Watching, and much more, all easily
accessible to and located within, this mostly undiscovered
sea-side area.
Virgin Beaches. The Bays of Huatulco. Within 10 minutes
of any resort you can find a beach of your own encircled
by tranquil safe waters, all turquoise blue and mostly
protected by natural bays and lees. Several untouched
and undeveloped beaches line the Pacific here and stretch
across miles of coastline. The ¨Virgin Beaches¨
are so secluded and unique to North America that several
films scenes have been shot for major movie productions
within minutes of the resort area.
Hiking
and exploring. Three waterfall ending trails exist (among
others) all within minutes of any resort. Any one of which
features rustic jungle environments. For the day hobby
hiker these trails are both safe and extremely enjoyable
for all comers. Each giving the person experiencing the
jungle walk-abouts the sense that they are on a movie
set.
For
the more enthusiastic hiker, the San Andres mountains
boast extreme remote wilderness, jungle to pine forest
can be found along with other attractive settings like
abandoned Catholic churches and native ruins not found
in any tourist brochures.
Living:
Spectacular multi-million dollar homes can be found nestled
within these bays. Several magnificently designed mega-villas
crawl there way up the beachfront hillsides in two of
the bays found here in Huatulco. (See: res. Conejos and
Balcolnes de Tangalunda). Several of these designer vacation
homes have been featured in leading monthly architecture
magazines and are ever present as they seemingly preside
over this magnificent resort community.
Moderately
priced beachfront and ocean view homes and lots can still
be found tucked away and profoundly lining several bays
in Huatulco.
Huatulco´s
residential areas are still less than 20% built however,
new construction is on the rise. Whether you’re
thinking of a vacation home or moving to Mexico, Huatulco
is hands down, one of the best options available.
Resorts:
Although several resorts are operating in the area, Huatulco
is best known for its Sea-Side bed and breakfast element.
I was recently invited to visit one of these spectacular
B & B´s, Villas Fa Sol, and was overwhelmed.
The food, views and private calm water beach was stunning.
The service, outstanding and attentive to every diminutive
need. And most importantly, this B & B has its own
very private cove and hillside protected beach. The B
& B also features its own fishing yacht named the
Fa-Sol DO-IT. A well equipped 46 foot modern day Yacht
available for charter both to the fishing enthusiast and
the bay and beach tour user.
After
visiting this stunning 15 room bed and breakfast, one
can’t help but be overwhelmed by its beauty and
elegance. The B & B features several suites, all with
spectacular ocean views, an array of garden dining tables,
complete with its own perspective of view and ambiance.
Dining by candlelight right on the ocean provides for
a most relaxing and romantic evening.
So
for those men out there who know what I’m talking
about when I say, my wife’s idea of ¨roughing
it¨ is a discount hotel without room service you what
I mean when I say… Huatulco has it all!
